WEB SITE DEVELOPMENT POLICY
Frazar Memorial Library is first and foremost dedicated to supporting the curriculum
and research needs of McNeese State University students, faculty, and staff. To do this
all information formats must be utilized. The library cannot only supply print materials,
but must look to electronic resources that may be useful to the McNeese community.
The Frazar Memorial Library Web Site is the vehicle by which the library provides
access to a variety of electronic resources to the McNeese community. The primary purpose
of the library's Web Site is to provide information about the library, to provide access
to a variety of electronic information resources, and to support the research and
instruction missions of McNeese State University. Electronic resources include, the online
catalog, online databases, and full-text articles.
To aid in conducting research via the World Wide Web, the library faculty have also
selected links to sites related to various academic disciplines. These sites are
critically evaluated by the librarian for currency, accuracy, and relevance to McNeese
students and faculty. It is based on this analysis that a link to a web site may be
included on the Frazar Memorial Library Web Site. Also since the library is a Federal and
Louisiana Depository Library, the Documents staff will maintain a web page of accessible
government information resources to meet the needs of people living in the 7th
Congressional District of Louisiana.
Any requests for additions or changes to the Frazar Memorial Library Web Site should be
submitted to the Library Web Committee for consideration. Selection of a site does not
constitute endorsement of any advertisers on that page or its commercial sponsors. All
sites selected will be re-evaluated on a continuing basis. Suggestions are welcome.
In creation of the Frazar Memorial Library Web Site, the library follows the
policies and guidelines of the American Library Association and McNeese State
University. For more information, consult the American Library Association's
Library Bill of Rights and McNeese State University's Information Technology
Resources Policy, Mission/Purpose Statement, and the general policies on
academic freedom as stated in the Faculty Staff Handbook of McNeese State
University.
